This Category "A" listed building is set in 26 acres of grounds, recognised as one of the most important designed landscapes in Scotland.

Despite a near disastrous fire in February 2009 we are confident that full restoration will be possible. We have worked closely with local planners and with Historic Scotland to ensure that when rebuilt Leslie House will provide exceptional modern homes within an exceptional listed building.

The building was cleared of debris and stabilised during 2009 while plans were developed and finalised for reconstruction. We expect work to commence in the late spring, inserting a new steel frame within the original shell. This will be followed by a major programme of stone repairs, the construction of a new roof and the replacement of virtually all of the windows. The exterior of the building will be virtually unchanged from its form prior to the fire. As far as possible the interior will be recreated in its form prior to the fire, with certain significant improvements approved by Historic Scotland.

During the delay we have taken the opportunity to press on with the restoration of the gardens. The southerly terraces have been cleared and will be replanted in the late spring. The lawns have all been stripped, levelled and resown. The easterly avenue has been cleared of ivy, levelled and new trees planted. Overgrown yew hedges have been cut back and replanted where necessary. New screen walls are being built to complete the gate piers moved from their original position at the Duke's Lodge. The overgrown Italian Garden to the east of the house has been cleared and will be replanted in its original form.

These improvements will continue over the next two years as the restoration of the building is underway.
